Located 197 kilometers (122 mi) away from Colombo, Kaudulla National Park is one of the prime bird areas in Sri Lanka. History says that 16 tanks built by King Mahasen were in the region, but the land once came across an abandoned period until reconstructed in 1959. Kaudulla National Park Safari is a one that lets you witness many animal species including large mammals and fish variations. April to October is the dry season, and the temperature in the region can reach up to 4.5 °C during these months. Still, the area welcomes 1,500–2,000 millimeters of rain throughout the year; hence food, water, and plants for animals do exist in abundance here
Kaudulla National Park Safari Experience: Over 200 elephants present in the herd, but the human-elephant conflict has resulted in a decrease in this number. Anyway, relevant authorities have taken actions to settle these issues; hence the region is a well-protected one for wildlife by now. While Sri Lankan elephant is the prime attraction, other mammals such as wild boar, Sri Lankan sambar & axis deer, sloth bear, and leopard live in considerable numbers in the park. Avoiding the rainy season is highly advisable when planning a Kaudulla National Park Safari.
Natural water resources in the area attract a variety of bird species including spot-billed pelicans and lesser adjutant. Also, the rich conditions in the area make it an ideal place for fishes, reptiles, turtles, and many more. In summary, it is a full safari experience.
